Statement of Intent
For this module, I will be completing two assignments. The first is a 2000 word essay, which I will be required to analyse, in detail, a film screened as part of the Module. I will then critically examine the potential paradoxical relationship in film production, between the still and moving image, using the correct terminology and screenshots to illustrate and document evidence of my examples within the film I have chosen. I will research by watching different photography themed films, in and out of lectures, which will help me learn different aspects of how photography can be used in the moving images, but also about particular Photographer's practice through the genre of documentary.
The second assignment will be to create a 5 minute (maximum) film, where I will illustrate the techniques of photography within the moving image. I intend to create a Manifesto of about 10 rules, in which I will stick to throughout the planning, filming and editing of my work. My film will also be informed by the research I do for assignment one, demonstrating the different techniques that other film makers use within their work to address the theme of Photography.
